HIGHLIGHTING FUTURE INVESTMENTS: Mr. Christopher Mashigo, CDC Executive Manager, Business Development.

Coega shares insights at the Eastern Cape Investment Conference

“What are the next phase of investments moving forward? What are the things that must occupy us to ensure that we leverage on our strengths as a province?” – were some of the questions posed by Christopher Mashigo, Executive Manager for Business Development at the Coega Development Corporation (CDC).

Mashigo’s inputs, formed part of the CDC’s contribution to the plenary session at the Eastern Cape (EC) Investment Conference, under the theme - how province [Eastern Cape] can ramp up the quantity and quality of real investment in the near future?

Arguing for the uptake of bankable projects, Mr. Mashigo, highlighted some key fundamentals that should occupy the province in order to attract investment, mainly “infrastructure, competitive pricing model and the willingness to go the extra mile.”

“We must put in a lot of effort to revive stalled/delayed mega projects such as Project Mthombo. As far, back as early 2008, the CDC had done extensive groundwork in terms of site readiness and afforded an attractive site that would assist in playing a critical role in stimulating the EC Economy.”

“By benefiting from existing capabilities locally, the CDC has identified key sectors such as the Agro processing & Aqua culture to unlock potential projects that will leverage from the 800km of coast line of the Eastern Cape.”
